Aspect Research Project

Aspect is undertaking an evaluation over the next two years to appraise the use of AutismPro and the associated Support Service as an early intervention package. Participants will include families across Australia who access the software and support service through funding provided by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).Each family's experience will be evaluated after having accessed the service for a period of six months. Qualitative and quantitative data will be collated.
The study aims to fulfil the following objectives:
  • To evaluate the implementation of AutismPro and the associated support service
  • To provide a more thorough evaluation of the perception of parents using AutismPro and associated support services
  • To provide information to a range of stakeholders relating to parents' perception of AutismPro's ability to build capacity within families; the value placed on the specialist support service; parents' perception of AutismPro as an effective early intervention tool.
As part of this study, semi-structured interviews and focus groups will be conducted as a means of identifying the perception of parents and their experience of AutismPro.
The proposed methodology will collate data which will provide information about the experiences of families across Australia who are accessing the service. This knowledge and understanding will allow continuous improvement of service provision and a direct response to the needs of parents.
The research will also provide more information about the efficacy of web-based intervention, particularly in relation to rural and regional families. This will help to devise a service model which will ensure an equitable service to each family.
